Chelsea are reviewing their management structure after Michael Emenalo's shock decision to quit Stamford Bridge.

Technical director Emenalo handed in his resignation to club directors last week.

He is expected to take on a role in a similar capacity with reigning Ligue 1 champions Monaco.

As they confirmed Emenalo's exit, Chelsea have revealed that they are considering a revamp of the way that the club is ran.

Emenalo, who is one of Roman Abramovich's most trusted aides at the club, will be involved in any decisions to change the club's structure.

Blues director Marina Granovskaia said: "We are extremely grateful to Michael for his tireless work over the past 10 years.

"He has played an important role during the most successful period in the club’s history, helping make Chelsea the club it is today.

"We will now be reviewing our management structure, and Michael will be a part of that process as we look ahead."

Emenalo has walked away from Chelsea after a 10-year association.

The 52-year-old has overseen three Premier League title victories, as well as Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup successes since joining the club.

On his decision to leave, Emenalo said: "This has been a very difficult decision to make, but one I believe is right for both myself and my family, and the club.

"I have had the privilege to work alongside some of the most talented people in the world of sport over the past 10 years, and I will depart incredibly proud of the achievements we have made."
