Cristiano Ronaldo has named Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford as someone who could succeed him as the world's best player.

The Real Madrid star was revealed as the UEFA Player of the Year on Thursday, and included the 19-year-old on a list of big names who could win the award next.

Ronaldo scored 12 goals in 13 games, including two in the final, as Real Madrid became the first team to defend a Champions League title.

Rashford has been ever-present in the Red Devils' first team since making his brilliant breakthrough in 2015, and Ronaldo clearly believes he can go on to achieve great things.

After receiving his latest accolade, Ronaldo was immediately asked by reporters who could be the one to succeed him, the Portugal captain replied: "That is a very good question. I see some with great potential: Asensio, Mbappé, Neymar, Dembele, Hazard, Rashford ... and some others.

"In the next generation there are at least 10 players with very, very great potential."
