Romelu Lukaku put pen to paper on a £75million deal at Manchester United this week, and unsurprisingly had a few positive things to say about the club.

The Belgian, currently in Los Angeles where he will meet up with his new teammates for the first time on Monday, spoke to ESPN about the move.

He waxed lyrical about the Old Trafford outfit, revealing it was the one club he always wanted to play for and that he is delighted to finally fulfil his dream.

"It's a club that is hungry to win the league again, to be dominant in the world again," the 24-year-old striker explained.

"It's the sort of opportunity I've always wanted since a child.

"When they came calling I didn't have to think twice, so I'm really delighted be part of history.

"Who would say no to the biggest club in the world? The best stadium in England, the best fans. I mean, it's the perfect opportunity.

"I always said I wanted to play for a team that's challenging for every trophy that there is there. I think Manchester United at the minute wants to be the dominant team, the dominant force.

"Now it's time to work hard, work harder than I ever did before and I'm willing to do it."

It's all very heartfelt and genuine, and we're sure it will be music to the ears of Man United supporters delighted to have got the transfer over the line.

However, a number of football fans - particularly Chelsea ones - have picked up on something that is bound to leave the Belgian a little red faced.

Back in 2014 the 24-year-old, who was then representing the Stamford Bridge club, was linked with a move to Atletico Madrid.

Speaking to MirrorFootball at the time, he said: "I only know one thing and that is that, in my opinion, Chelsea are still the biggest club in England. And they have a very, very good manager! I have a contract with Chelsea after this summer and I am not focusing on any move to Atletico."

And well, football fans don't forget these things...
