Arsenal are set to give a number of their fringe players a chance to catch the eye of boss Arsene Wenger when they face Norwich in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

The Gunners have had a hectic fixture schedule with Europa League commitments and are back in action against

That means a number of players who have struggled for game time are in line to get some much-needed minutes under their belts, while some of the youngsters will also be given a chance to impress.

Here are five players who will be keen to make their mark should they feature in the starting 11...

Ainsley Maitland-Niles

The 20-year-old has featured in this competition and the Europa League this season.

With the number of options at Wenger's disposal in the middle of the park, Maitland-Niles may have to settle for another start out wide but a strong showing there could demonstrate his versatility and make the boss see him as a useful option to have in his squad every week.

He was part of England's Under-20 World Cup winning squad over the summer, and is one of the many players from that group who is predicted to have a bright future ahead of him.

Maitland-Niles will be desperate to put in a good performance on Tuesday and prove his career won't go in the same direction as other young English players' who have been on the books at the Emirates in recent years.

Theo Walcott

He may have been at Arsenal for nearly twelve years, but the general consensus among the Gunners faithful is that Walcott has too often failed to deliver on the potential that caused Arsene Wenger to splash out £10 million on him when he was only 16 years old.

It looks as though Wenger may finally have run out of patience with the England international, as he's not started a single Premier League game this term.

Walcott has played in the Europa League, scoring twice in the recent win over BATE but appears a long way off Wenger's first XI.

Jack Wilshere

The midfielder has forced himself back into the reckoning after a string of impressive Europa League performances.

Wilshere's Arsenal career appeared over in the summer after his loan spell at Bournemouth but he has impressed Arsene Wenger.

The Gunners boss admits it won't be too long until he starts a Premier League game but that opportunity is yet to arrive.

Another impressive showing against Norwich and he won't be too far away.

Reiss Nelson

Very few people outside of Arsenal had heard of Nelson prior to this season, but the 17-year-old had a hugely impressive pre-season with the Gunners and has been rewarded with a place in their first team squad.

He made his competitive debut in the dying minutes against Cologne, and is now featuring in cup competitions.

Fellow forward Alex Iwobi became a mainstay in the first team after breaking into the side in the 2015/16 season, and Nelson is a similarly exciting player who will be hoping to follow in his footsteps with the Nigeria international still a regular under Arsene Wenger.

Rob Holding

The former Bolton defender enjoyed an excellent end to the last campaign, cementing his place in the Gunners' back three and playing a starring role as they beat to Chelsea to lift a 13th FA Cup.

Wenger's decision to stick with a back three will only help Holding, who will get regular minutes over the course of the season.

Per Mertesacker has started the last two Premier League games ahead of Holding though and that will be a concern.

The Norwich clash will give him a chance to return to the first-team.
