A loud bang was heard at Wembley during Tottenham's Premier League win over Crystal Palace - sparking confusion among football fans.

Twitter users took to social media shortly after the explosive sound echoed around the national stadium to ask if others had heard it.

Most claimed that the bang was nothing more than a fan letting off a flare outside the ground, as there was no sign of smoke inside the stadium.

The bang had little impact on the game itself as play was not affected.

Tottenham, who are using Wembley as their home ground while their new stadium is being build, recorded a 1-0 win over Palace on Sunday.
