Hector Bellerin has revealed how the Arsenal team reacted to the heavy criticism that came their way following the Watford defeat.

The Gunners were winning the match 1-0 at Vicarage Road before a Troy Deeney penalty and late Tom Cleverly strike saw them return to north London pointless.

Immediately after the game Deeney, who was speaking on Sky Sports, claimed Arsenal lack "cojones", while Jamie Carragher called the players "cowards".

Arsene Wenger's men responded in their very next game, away at Red Star Belgrade in the Europa League.

The Gunners beat the Serbian outfit 1-0 thanks to a stunning Olivier Giroud goal, setting them up for their Premier League clash with Everton.

At Goodison Park Arsenal looked rejuvinated. Wenger started Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Alexandre Lacazette together for the first time, with brilliant results.

The attack-minded trio picked 10-man Everton apart for ninety minutes as Arsenal netted five to the Toffees' two.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, Bellerin hit back at the abuse that came Arsenal's way following the Watford defeat, and explained why the club deserves more credit.

"I think it always is with Arsenal, said the Spaniard. "It doesn't matter how we do. If we win it is always the other team's fault and when we lose it is always our fault.

"We have just got to deal with it as we have been doing, play our game and show that we have got the potential, that we can win games like this one. I think everyone has seen that."
