Jamie Carragher is better at comedy than most comedians.

While expert football analysis is his main job, the former Liverpool defender could easily get himself a gig as a stand-up comic if he fancied a career change.

The latest bit of evidence - the brilliant job he did of roasting Steven Gerrard in front of a large audience on Monday night.

At the Legends of Football event, which raises money for the fantastic Nordoff-Robbins charity, Gerrard was being honoured for his services to the game.

As part of the evening, his former team mates Carragher and Xabi Alonso were invited on stage to pay tribute to their former captain at Liverpool.

And 'Carra' wasn't going to miss his opportunity to turn his 'tribute' into a comedy roast.

First, the Sky Sports pundit was asked to sum up his friend.

"What you see is what you get," he replied. "He's a miserable b*****d!"

NICE.

Carragher then went on to tell a story from the summer of 2011, a time when Gerrard was (bizarrely, in hindsight) concerned about his place in Liverpool's first XI.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish had spent a fortune on a host of new signings, including Jordan Henderson, Stewart Downing… and Charlie Adam.

Incredibly, Carragher confirmed that Gerrard was ACTUALLY concerned that the former Blackpool midfielder was going to replace him.

So, how did Carra calm his pal's nerves. By telling him, "It's only Charlie f***ing Adam!"

Like we said, the man's a comedy genius…
