Jose Mourinho might have spent big bucks on £75million Romelu Lukaku – but Marcus Rashford is ready to play a leading role for Manchester United this season.

The United and England teenager played almost 60 games for club and country last season scoring 11 goals.

Boss Mourinho will demand more goals from the 19-year-old youngster next season – but he showed against Barcelona at FedEx Field in Washington he's developing into an even bigger strike threat.

Bigger, stronger and with the same rapid speed, Rashford gave Barcelona's defenders a rough ride at times in United's final US tour game in the International Champions Cup.

He hit the post first half and his pace caused the Spaniard's constant problems.

And in the closing moments a dangerous run across Barcelona's defence ended with him teeing up Anthony Martial – but the French youngster fluffed his lines.

All the talk this summer might be about another teenager – Monaco's £165 million hit man Kylian Mbappe – a target for Real Madrid, Manchester City and Arsenal.

But if Rashford continues to develop his game – and adds more goals – United will have their own deadly version of the Monaco whizzkid.
