Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has dispelled a rumour he encouraged the club to sign Dejan Lovren back in 2014.
The Reds defender had a day to forget on Sunday when Tottenham battered the Merseyside club 4-1 at Wembley Stadium.
Lovren came off half an hour into the first half of the game, but had already made a huge impact on the final result.
Attempting to defend against a Hugo Lloris clearance, the centre-back missed the ball and allowed Harry Kane in behind him.
The England international then whipped the ball into the area, finding Son Heung-min, who buried a shot past Simon Mignolet.
Following the match Carragher was asked - and not for the first time - whether he was the man who recommended the signing when Brendan Rodgers was boss.
He took to Twitter to dispel the rumour, writing: "Where has this come from?
"I get tweeted this all the time! I did a piece on him on MNF when he was outstanding at Old Trafford for Soton!"
Jurgen Klopp had plenty to say about Liverpool's woeful defending following the defeat to Spurs, and highlighted Lovren's error as a turning point in the game.
"The whole game the whole result was all our fault - Tottenham was good, they needed to be good, but we made it much too easy for them," said Klopp.
"The first goal was a little throw in and we are not really there. It was just really bad, bad, bad defending. The second, a counter attack, when the ball passes Dejan Lovren it is already too late.
"Coming back in the game with the goal we had our chances, but it's nothing to talk about today.
"The third one, it's a completely open situation. We make the foul, again, all our fault. The fourth - second ball and third ball for Tottenham, their desire was bigger than ours.
"The game was finished then. We came here for a result and had not one second to get a result."
