Jose Mourinho has accused the FA of singling him out following his latest touchline ban.
Manchester United boss Mourinho served a one-match ban in midweek, after being sent to the stands for kicking a water bottle in anger.
But Mourinho, sent to the stands twice this season and fined in three separate disciplinary incidents, called on the FA to show consistency and subject all managers to the same treatment.
“The only thing I would like would be the same rules for everyone,” said Mourinho.
“Let’s go back to the last one. I kicked a bottle of water. I cannot do it. If I do it, then it’s a sending off. After that, there is a punishment.
“I accept that it’s a sending-off and, in fact, if you see the images when the referee comes over, I don’t say a word or make a complaint.
“I accepted the suspension of one match and it’s as simple as that. But it has to be the same for every manager. It has to be the same.”
Mourinho’s arch rival Arsene Wenger received an apology from former referees’ head Keith Hackett in 2009 after he was sent to the stands at Old Trafford for kicking a water bottle.
But Mourinho, who was hit with a £16,000 fine as well a touchline ban for the same transgression, clearly feels the FA are out to get him after his latest disciplinary episode.
Mourinho served his touchline ban in United’s 4-1 EFL Cup quarter-final win over West Ham, to ensure he will be in the dugout for tomorrow’s Premier League trip to Everton.
