Jose Mourinho has had his say on the 'stamp' incident from Saturday's derby match between Liverpool and Manchester United.

And it seems the Portuguese has spotted a "contradiction", which he brought attention to in his Champions League press conference on Tuesday.

Romelu Lukaku was involved in the incident with Dejan Lovren at Anfield this weekend, when the Belgian caught the Reds man in the face with his boot.

Replays showed the contact was accidental and referee Martin Atkinson thought the same, choosing not to caution the £75million man.

The FA then decided against pursuing a case against the striker for violent conduct on Monday, putting the issue to bed once and for all.

But Lovren spoke out saying he still thinks Lukaku's actions were deliberate.

"I made a tackle there – I just felt he was over me he could have moved away," explained the Croatian centre-back.

"But, to be honest, my honest view was he did it on purpose.

"Even if he didn't do it [on purpose], he would usually apologise, he was nervous during the game, that was also the reason."

Mourinho was asked about the incident on Tuesday, and told the press: "There is a contradiction. He [Lovren] says let's move on and forget, then spends 10 minutes speaking about it.

Adding: "I read something but we have to move on and forget what happened.

"Speaking about things that happened and didn't happen. For me, there was not any meaning and the FA is there to analyse and make decisions and no comment."
