Jose Mourinho expects Eric Bailly to return against Tottenham next weekend.

The Ivorian defender has been out injured since the international break and sat out matches against Liverpool and Benfica.

He won't play against Huddersfield and is also set to sit out the Carabao Cup clash at Swansea, reports the Manchester Evening News.

United host Spurs at lunchtime next week but Paul Pogba is not likely to make his comeback from a hamstring injury.

He is continuing his rehabilitation in Miami, Florida and Mourinho said Pogba's fitness is not his responsibility.

"I have no idea," Mourinho reiterated. "If you ask if he can play next week against Tottenham then I don’t know. I’m not telling you no, then he plays, and then you say I lied.

"I really don’t know. I expect Eric Bailly to be back next week. I cannot tell you about Fellaini or Pogba."

When Mourinho was asked if he had granted Pogba permission to fly to the United States, he replied: "I’m in control of the players who are available. You will have to ask Dr McNally [why Pogba is in Florida]. He is responsible for that.

"I’m not happy or unhappy [about Pogba being abroad]. It’s not my responsibility."

Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick are also still sidelined through injury but Marcus Rashford has recovered from a knee knock for Saturday's game at Huddersfield.
