Jose Mourinho has ruled Luke Shaw out for the rest of the season.

The Manchester United left-back hobbled off in just the ninth minute of his side's clash with Swansea on Sunday after sustaining a foot injury.

A scan on Monday revealed he has ligament damage and although Mourinho is waiting for a second opinion, has confirmed Shaw will have no more part to play in United's season.

The setback is the latest to hit the former Southampton defender, who was out for 10 months with a broken leg sustained against PSV in September 2015.

"It's an important injury," said Mourinho, speaking to the press ahead of United's Europa League semi-final on Thursday.

"We are waiting for a second opinion but he is out for the season, that is confirmed."

Eric Bailly, who limped off in the same game on Sunday, is back for the Red Devils however, and will likely start given United's current shortage of players.

"Bailly is ready to play, he is the kind of personality that fights against every problem unless it's impossible," said Mourinho.

The Ivory Coast centre-back trained alongside Paul Pogba, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones on Wednesday.

The trio have all been out injured in recent weeks but have been named in Mourinho's travelling party for the clash in Spain.
