Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain can play in four positions for the Anfield club, ahead of his side's clash with Manchester City.

Oxlade-Chamberlain snubbed the chance to join Chelsea during the transfer window, opting instead to agree terms with Klopp's Reds.

According to the England international the prospect of playing in a central position at Liverpool appealed to him more than being deployed as a wing-back, where it is believed Antonio Conte wanted to play him.

Klopp spoke to the press on Friday ahead of Liverpool's trip to the Etihad about where Oxlade-Chamberlain could play.

"In a few positions. He's a very good football player," said the Reds boss.

"Good in small spaces, very good in big spaces. Good dribbler, good passer. I really like and you want him on the pitch as often as possible.

"In the system we play at the moment, he can play in four positions. Both No.8s and both wingers. We play in a specific way and we want to use him in these positions."

The Reds can make it five wins in five in all competitions if they can overcome Pep Guardiola's side on Saturday.

Last time out Manchester City beat Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium, but left it late to secure all three points.

After falling behind to a Charlie Daniels wondergoal in the first half, Gabriel Jesus levelled things up, before Raheem Sterling grabbed the winner in the 96th minute.

The England international was then shown a second yellow for his celebration, meaning he will miss the visit of Klopp's Liverpool.
