Kevin De Bruyne suspects Pep Guardiola is trying to get even more out of him with his glowing praise.

Guardiola hailed de Bruyne as one of the best players he has ever seen after he helped Manchester City destroy Feyenoord 4-0 in the Champions League .

De Bruyne was pleased to hear this, but feels it was also intended to keep him on his toes.

“It makes me happy, but the other hand, it is also a way of putting pressure on me to do well,” said the Belgium playmaker.

“I have tried to be more consistent since I came here and have had ups and downs, but last year and the start this year have been constantly very good for me.

“I’m going with the flow of the team. I feel really good after good preparation. Physically and mentally I’m ready to play and I get a lot of confidence from the manager and the team-mates around me.

“I've been here more than two years so I feel at home with this team. It’s a good period for me.”

De Bruyne planted a cross onto John Stones’ head for the second of his two efforts and says he gets more pleasure from making goals than taking them.

“I get more more joy from an assist sometimes, it’s just the way I feel,” he said.

“It's nice to score a goal, but I don't get in that type of position as many times as I did in my first year, but it doesn't matter.

“I’m enjoying my football and the goals will come. As long as we win, I don’t care.”
