Liverpool suffered a penalty shoot-out defeat as Atletico Madrid secured the Audi Cup at the Allianz Arena.
Jordan Henderson was the villain as he missed the crucial spot kick and Atletico made him pay as former Chelsea defender Filipe Luis scored the crucial winner.
Atletico made it five out of five and were celebrating another piece of silverware.
The former Europa League winners took an early lead when Keidi Bare fired the La Liga side into the lead in the first half, but the Reds drew level late in the game after Divock Origi was brought down inside the box and Roberto Firmino made no mistake striking the ball into the corner of the net.
The game went to penalties but Atletico Madrid kept their nerve to come out on top.
Here is how the action unfolded at the Allianz Arena...
Ward - Hats off to them
Danny Ward said:
Hats off to them. They put them away. Good penalties.
You can’t have them all. Obviously it’s disappointing but we’ll learn from it.
It (the game) went quite well. I’ve had a couple of knocks in pre-season which has been frustrating.
The work we’ve got through here and in Hong Kong has been massive for us.
The boys have been around each other 24/7.
I feel we’ve all benefited from it massively, us boys coming back not just the new boys who’ve joined this year.
It’s been positive both trips so hope we can take that on now.

Five things we learned from Liverpool performance
Liverpool were brought crashing back down to earth in the Allianz Arena...by the agonies of the penalty shoot out.
Jurgen Klopp’s side gritted out an uninspiring draw against wily and experienced Atletico Madrid opponents, in a game that was the antidote to the previous night’s thriller against Bayern.
But skipper Jordan Henderson’s shoot out miss was enough to see the Audi Cup lifted by the Spanish side, who spelt out just how tough life back at the top will be for the Reds.
In truth, this game barely got above the level of the mundane, with a much-changed Liverpool relying on their kids and fringe players to take on opponents who have twice reached the Champions’ League final in recent years.

We have to learn from the games and we still have one more to go.
I see a lot of improvement. We have good players and a fantastic squad.

Time for Atletico to ring the changes.
Liverpool will not enjoy seeing Antoine Griezmann enter the action.
The French star who was strongly linked with a move to Manchester United will be keen to get among the goals once again.
