Roberto Firmino was pretty gutted when the final whistle concluded Liverpool's Champions League opener against Sevilla on Wednesday.

The Reds, who lost 3-1 to the La Liga club in the 2016 Europa League final, were looking for revenge at Anfield, and really, they should have had it.

Starting terribly, Liverpool went a goal behind just five minutes into the tie when Ben Yedder capitalised on a Dejan Lovren error to slot past Loris Karius.

But the home side hit back through Firmino, before Mohamed Salah put them ahead.

Liverpool should have extended their lead when Sadio Mane was fouled in the penalty area, but Firmino was unable to convert the subsequent spot kick.

Joaquin Correa then punished the Reds for failing to put the game to bed by snatching a late equaliser, meaning the two sides shared the spoils.

After the game Jurgen Klopp was caught up in an argument with the Sevilla dugout, who accused him of getting their boss Eduardo Berizzo sent to the stands during the game.

While Firmino, who looked devastated with his side dropping two points against Sevilla, shed a tear in frustration, presumably at missing his penalty.

Many Liverpool fans spotted the Brazilian's show of passion and will to win, and were quick to take to social media to heap praise on him.
