Liverpool fans are voting for Dejan Lovren to be named September player of the month after he revealed the shocking abuse he has received.

The Croatian centre-back has endured a difficult start to the season at Anfield, which came to a head against Tottenham.

Lovren was at fault for Spurs' first two goals and was taken off by Jurgen Klopp just a half hour into the fixture.

Klopp kept his faith in the defender and selected him to start against Huddersfield, but Lovren injured himself in the warm-up and missed the game.

Lovren, who has two young children, Elene and Josip with wife Anita, responded: "I don't mind when people talk s*** about me, its says more about them!

"But I can not ignore when my family is threatened. I just can't and won't accept that. Disgusting."

Liverpool fans were unified in their criticism of the abuse, slamming the alleged supporter for the sickening threat.

And it seems they have now gone one step further by rallying together and voting for Lovren to be named player of the month in a bid to make up for it.
