Liverpool's central defensive pair Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren have both travelled to Russia for the Reds' Champions League clash with Spartak Moscow.

The Merseysiders' first-choice defensive partnership had both been doubts for the weekend win over Leicester, due to injury.

Having come through the roller coaster 3-2 win at the King Power, the pair's participation in Tuesday night's second group stage match was in question, but both joined their teammates on the flight on Monday afternoon, having trained at Melwood earlier in the day.

Young sensation Ben Woodburn did not feature in the 20-man travelling party however.

The 17-year-old, who scored on his international debut to give Wales a World Cup qualifying win over Austria this month, remained with Liverpool's under-19 squad.

Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne, both long-term absentees, also stayed behind to work on their respective recoveries, as has Danny Ings. Joe Gomez misses out through suspension.

Liverpool drew their opening group game 2-2 with Spanish side Sevilla, while Spartak also drew, 1-1 against Maribor.
