Liverpool forward Mo Salah has taken Egypt through to the World Cup in Russia with a winner from the spot in the fifth minute of time added on against the Congo.
Salah had put Egypt seconds from World Cup qualification before a late Congo equaliser on Sunday.
The Reds star struck just after the hour mark and, as far as their ecstatic fans were concerned, Egypt were on their way to Russia 2018.
But the leveler in the 88th minute from Dijon's Arnold Bouka Moutou took the scenario down to the final match of qualifying.
That was until a penalty at the death saw Egypt through, with the Reds star stepping up for his country yet again.
The win puts Egypt four points ahead of second-placed Uganda in African qualifying's Group E with just one match remaining.
Salah's opener came after a defensive blunder before Moutou beat 44-year-old goalkeeper Essam Al Hadary with three minutes left.
Salah's late penalty will see Egypt make their first appearance at the World Cup finals since 1990 in Italy.
