Liverpool fans have been warned to expect travel chaos after their Premier League clash at Arsenal on Friday night.

The last direct train from London to Liverpool departs Euston Station approximately half an hour before the match finishes.

It comes on a day where Virgin Trains are running a reduced service out of the capital as part of industrial action across certain dates throughout December and January - meaning some fans could also face issues getting to London.

The final service to Liverpool, which leaves the capital at 9:07pm, is has always been the last direct train and is not influenced by the strikes.

Supporters wishing to get home can board an alternative service that leaves London at 11pm, but it will only get them into Liverpool at 5:30am the next morning - and that includes a three-hour wait in Manchester.

There are also expected to be road closures in the close vicinity to the stadium.

"We would like to advise supporters to arrive at the stadium early as delays might be possible if they are travelling through the area," a club statement said.

"Turnstiles will open one and a half hours before kick-off to allow plenty of time for access. There will be full searches and ticket inspections before entry.

"Fans should be aware that there are no left-luggage facilities at the Emirates."

The fixture between Arsenal and Liverpool was moved to the Friday night to avoid a Christmas Eve fixture, with Sky Sports keen to broadcast the game live.

Liverpool will have approximately 3,000 fans in the away end.
