Nathaniel Clyne let slip that he has a rather bizarre link to Manchester United legend Edwin van der Sar - although it's safe to say he did so reluctantly.

The Liverpool defender recently took part in a carpool video alongside teammates Joe Gomez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Daniel Sturridge, on their way to training.

The group discussed everything from who is the best dressed to the best looking, and had plenty of laughs along the way.

But Clyne suddenly went quiet when the topic of middle names came up, as the other three continued to talk and joke around.

Sturridge was the first to speak up, telling the group that his middle name is Andre, before Gomez revealed his is Dave.

Oxlade-Chamberlain then spoke up, informing his teammates that he actually has two middle names - Mark David.

And then it was Clyne's turn to talk. At first the defender tried to move the question on, telling the group: "Mine is a pass!"

But they refused to let him get away with answering, and pushed for him to reveal that his middle name is... wait for it... Edwin.

Now it's a perfectly respectable name. It's just not what the others were expecting, especially Sturridge, who burst into a fit of giggles.

The trio immediately made the link with Edwin van der Sar, and well, as you'll see, it seems Clyne has a brand new nickname at Liverpool.
