Losing Philippe Coutinho would be a huge blow for Liverpool, particularly so late in the transfer window.

However, it may not be so disastrous if you look at the stats of £36.9m summer signing Mohamed Salah.

Despite costing the Reds a fraction of what Barcelona are willing to pay for Coutinho, Salah actually created MORE chances and scored MORE goals than the Brazilian last season.

Both players played in 31 league games for their respective clubs last time round.

Coutinho created 65 goalscoring opportunities for his teammates in those games according to Opta, the second most of any Liverpool player after Roberto Firmino who created 77.

Salah, on the other hand, created 71, the most of any player for Roma last season.

The Egyptian winger also scored more goals with 15 - the second most of any Roma player - while Coutinho scored 13 - the joint most of any Liverpool player.

Clearly, Jürgen Klopp would be much better off with both Coutinho and Salah in his squad.

But it’s hard to ignore the craziness of Barcelona’s offer.

The Catalan giants are reportedly offering Liverpool £138m for the Brazilian.

That’s a lot of money for any player but it’s an incredible amount when you consider that Coutinho has never scored 15 or more goals in all competitions in any season throughout his career.
