Pep Guardiola was almost forced to miss Manchester City's final pre-season friendly - after he forgot to pack his passport.

Guardiola arrived at Manchester Airport on Thursday morning to board the team's flight to Iceland, where they are due to face West Ham United on Friday.

But the Spaniard was given a scare after hopping off the team bus.

Guardiola was left rummaging through his luggage to try and find his passport, only to discover that he had completely forgot to pack it.

The former Barcelona manager spent a further 30 minutes searching round the team bus in the hope of discovering that it had slipped between two seats.

A couple of hasty phone calls later and eventually managed to locate the his all-important travel document - and he had indeed left it behind.

Thankfully, a chauffeur was on hand to rush to the airport's Terminal Two and allow him onto the plane.

City's game against West Ham is only their fourth pre-season friendly but is also their last.

A disappointing loss to Manchester United was followed by thumping victories over Real Madrid and Tottenham.

City have secured five new arrivals so far this summer, with Ederson, Bernardo Silva, Danilo, Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy all joining for over £200million combined.

And they might not be done yet, with talks over a transfer for Alexis Sanchez still reportedly on the cards.

The improvements are expected to take City to the next level, with even United legend Ryan Giggs claiming that they are the ones to beat.
