Marouane Fellaini has travelled to Oslo with Manchester United amid uncertainty over his future.
The Belgian midfielder is a target for Galatasaray and some reports suggested a deal had even been agreed.
But Fellaini looks set to feature against Valerenga after being named in the United squad, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Jose Mourinho has often refused to consider players for selection when they are on the brink of a transfer.
Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis did not feature in any of United's matchday squads a month before the winter transfer window opened, when they left permanently for Everton and Lyon.
Earlier this month, Mourinho omitted Adnan Januzaj and Sam Johnstone from the pre-season tour squad as the former closed in on a transfer to Real Sociedad while Johnstone prepared to rejoin Aston Villa on loan.
Ander Herrera and Juan Mata have both travelled after recovering from knocks they suffered in United's win over Real Salt Lake and draw with Real Madrid across the Atlantic.
However, David de Gea, Antonio Valencia or Jesse Lingard were not pictured. Lingard came off during the defeat to Barcelona on Wednesday with muscle fatigue.
United play their penultimate friendly fixture in Norway tonight ahead of flying to Dublin to face Sampdoria on Wednesday. Their competitive season begins with the Super Cup against Real Madrid in Skopje a week on Tuesday.
Mourinho hinted after the Barcelona defeat the Valerenga match could clarify why he decided against starting Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly together as a duo in the States.
"I think we will understand the reason in a couple of days," Mourinho said. "Bailly is suspended for the first two matches (in the Super Cup and Champions League), as you know, and I think in the next couple of days we will have the understanding of why I play Lindelof and Smalling."
Mourinho withdrew Lindelof, Smalling and Daley Blind at half-time for the second time in the States during the 1-0 defeat to Barcelona on Wednesday and admitted he was unhappy with United's defending.
"I think for the crowd was good, I think in pre-season it's important also to play for that when you come to the US and you have a stadium with a few thousand very enthusiastic, this is what they want, they want Messi, they want Neymar, they want Pogba, they want the best players to show what they are.
"I think it happened in the first-half, it was 1-0 but it could've been 2-2, 3-2, 2-3, because of lots of chances because it was an open game.
"We didn't defend well, I was not happy with the way we were defending, but that's pre-season. In the second-half lots of changes for them and for us, but both teams play for the result in spite of it's a friendly, both teams played for the result.
"We tried to equalise, they tried to keep the ball, and keep possession and defend well. So even in second-half the match was positive."
United flew to Scandinavia a year ago, where they defeated Galatasaray 5-2 in Gothenburg on Zlatan Ibrahimovic's first appearance for the club. They have also faced Valerenga, Barcelona and AIK Fotboll in Norway and Sweden over the last five years.
