Manchester United arrived back home in the early hours of Thursday morning after their emphatic win in Moscow on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils thumped CSKA 4-1 thanks to a Romelu Lukaku double and strikes from Anthony Martial and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

It leaves United with six points from six in the Champions League and sitting pretty at the top of Group A.

The result continues their impressive start to the season having won five and drawn one of their opening six Premier League games, leaving them second in the table on goal difference behind rivals Manchester City.

Lukaku's brace took his tally to 10 goals in nine games since sealing his switch from Everton, and Jose Mourinho hailed his 'amazing' contribution since arriving at Old Trafford.

"It's a great achievement but it's only possible with a good team,” said Mourinho.

“Without a good team it's not possible and the team is playing well. But they are amazing numbers for Romelu. He's humble and wants to learn and improve all the time.

“I think the ambition is there and I trust he can keep performing for us.

“For the team confidence is good, because six points in two matches in the Champions League puts us in a good position.

“The last appearances of Manchester United away in the Champions League were not the best and, after one season outside, we came back with a good away performance.

“But we have to keep our feet on the ground, stay humble and follow our direction because we're having a very good start to the season.”
