Marouane Fellaini has sold his £2.3million mansion as his Manchester United career appears in fresh doubt.

The Belgian midfielder was the villain of the Manchester derby on Thursday night as he saw red for a shocking headbutt on Sergio Aguero.

Fellaini was booked for a trip on Aguero before fouling the Argentine again seconds later.

The City striker confronted his opponent, who sent him sprawling to the ground with a wild headbutt.

Martin Atkinson showed Fellaini the straight red card with the Belgian in danger of missing the rest of the domestic season as a result.

Off the pitch, he triggered a one-year contract extension at Old Trafford after turning his career around under Jose Mourinho.

But his latest indiscretion is likely to anger the Portuguese, who is already without a host of first-team players.

Fellaini is certainly on the move after selling his mansion earlier this week - but will he be buying a new pad in Manchester?

Fellaini bought his home in Worsley for £2million shortly after he signed for United in 2013.

The property boasts a home cinema, a heated indoor swimming pool and a gym - as well as a hair salon.

The midfielder converted one of the six bedrooms in the incredible property to keep on top of his locks.

Despite Fellaini's red card, Jose Mourinho attempted to defend the Belgian - and pointed the finger at Aguero.

“Marouane said that it's a red card because it's him,” said Mourinho. “Martin Atkinson told me that in his opinion it's a red card.

“But I saw Aguero in the tunnel and no broken nose, no broken head, his face as nice as always, so I'm not so sure.

“If Sergio doesn't go to the floor, for sure it's not a red card, but if Marouane gave him the chance to do that, I don't know."
