Mauricio Pochettino spoke to the media at the Tottenham Hotspur training cntre today ahead of the game at Everton.

Watch the press conference in full above, and read the transcript as provided by Football.London below.

Spurs at Everton, a tough place to get a win?

Yes, of course. We are thinking it will be a very tough game. Always in Everton they are tough games.

In last three seasons we have one victory for us.

But we are excited to start this period which will be very busy for us with the Champions League and then the cups.

I think it's Important now we are now all together after the transfer window. It's always complicated but now from today and tomorrow all the players will be here.

We'll start to create and build a new dynamic and start to know each other and build a strong team and mentality for the whole season.

Tough times at Wembley, happy to be away this weekend?

Always our ambition is to win.

It's true that in the last game at Wembley against we were disappointed with the result.

Now we have an opportunity to get three points.

We have a lot of respect for Everton. They have a great manager and great players.

They signed a lot of players during the transfer window.

It's a new Everton but it's still the same philosophy and course it will be a very tough game.

Our idea in our mind is to get the three points.

Wayne Rooney has a good record against Spurs, will stopping him be a priority?

Not only him. We know that he's a great player, a fantastic players, one of the best in the history of football in England.

I think we have a lot of respect for him. But it's true they have a great squad with different players, we need to be vigilant.

Of course when we don't have the ball, we need to be aggressive and try to stop them.

Would it be advantageous for them not to play him with his current situation?

I think they have a great squad. It's true he's a fantastic player.

But for me football is about the squad, the team.

Sure that if he misses the game, he's important for them but they have the potential to win games without him.

Harry Kane scored for England, time to score for his club?

We hope that yes, he starts to score for Tottenham too.

It was unbelieveable. It was the first of September and he scored.

It was for the national team and it's great for him.

We hope that he can start scoring as soon as possible because it will be good for him and very good for the team.

Have you spoken to Dele Alli about his gesture?

I'm not worried. He told the media afterwards it was a joke with Kyle Walker. There's a lot of things worse than that situation.

It's true it's not a fantastic gesture but it's not a big issue. It was a joke in a moment with his teammate.

I don't think it'll be a big issue with FIFA or with us.

I remember when I was a player, worse things happened on the pitch but today there's a lot of cameras, maybe 50 cameras, and we're so focused on the players.

From my point of view, it's not a big issue. He doesn't deserve to be banned by FIFA.

Tell us about Serge Aurier

Of course Serge is a player with a lot of experience in Europe, in the last seasons at PSG, playing in Champions League.

He'll be very good competition with Kieran Trippier, to share that position and try to improve everyone.

It's a position that we needed to improve and we're happy. He's still young, 24, but with a lot of experience.

He's so powerful, I think you know well his characteristics.

This afternoon he will arrive here and start to adapt himself to new squad, new club, new games because PL is completely different to Ligue 1 and try to help the team. He is coming here to help us.

What does signing Fernando Llorente mean for the future of Vincent Janssen?

Yes of course. the next question is why he is not in Champions League squad.

That is about numbers. We only have 17 places, we are 19, so him and Lamela we decided [to leave out].

But in January we check again to see if we change the names in the squad.

But, yes, he has a future like other players here.

Any news on Toby Alderweireld's new contract?

He was talking with me in my office this morning and he's so happy, he wants to make it clear he is fully committed with the club.

He's happy with his contract, two years plus one. It's not an issue. I recognise some rumours in the last few days.

But he is so relaxed, so calm. His idea is to try to play here -- he's happy here, there's no reason to move.

Do think the transfer window should close before the season starts?

That is not in my hands. In my opinion, I am happy with all the decisions. I think the rules are the same for everyone.

I'm happy in one way or another in the decision the Premier League [clubs] will take.

Did you speak to Dele after the England match?

It's important to move on. We've all made a mistake, we have a lot of things that happened in the past when you're young. Then you mature.

Dele Alli I think has improved a lot from last season. His behavior is fantastic. That was a joke with teammate.

He's unlucky because the camera recorded it in that moment. It's not disrespectful to anyone.

Today, this gesture is more than usual in the normal life for the people.

It was a joke and we need to try to help that we don't make the situation bigger.

Everton v Spurs will show off a lot of England's young players - is that important?

It's true that Everton this season plays with a lot of young players, last season the same. That is so good for the country.

But it's true that we're focused on trying to give the players that deserve to play the possibility.

If they're English, that's better for our fans but we try to be fair with everyone in the squad.

Is Serge Aurier in contention for Saturday?

We need to assess him because he will arrive this afternoon, in a few hours and see how he is, because he played Tuesday and travelled today to France, Paris, and now he's travelled from France to London.

We need to see how he is.

But you can imagine for him it will be very tough to play. For this afternoon, tomorrow to prepare for the game, it will be tough for him.

Maybe will be in contention, maybe, we'll see. We need to assess him today and tomorrow.

How is Kieran Trippier?

Kieran is good. He has trained all week and I think he will be available for Saturday.

Did you speak to Aurier about his off-field issues?

I spoke with him of course about different things. But I’m a person that likes to move on.

As I’ve always said, I’m the first to make mistakes in my life, and it’s important that people give the opportunity to show that you learn and improve in all decisions in your life too.

But I think it was good. We had a long chat. We talked about different things.

He knows very well how we are, what we expect from him and for us it’s so important, not only him, every player, how they behave here, in the squad.

We need to keep the dynamic we have created. I trust him, I am confident that he can succeed here and help the team to achieve the things we want.

When you know and you meet some people, always you start to assess him from the day that you meet them, and for me we start from [here] because I don’t know him before.

For me, I think it’s exciting to have him in the squad and for him I think it’s a new chapter in his life.

It’s sure it’s a big opportunity for him to try to show all that he has inside, and the good player that he is.

Is there a risk with him?

No, any problem. I know very well. I’ve had the facility to work with or manage players from Cote d’Ivoire and they were very good in their personal relationships and as professionals.

He’s from Cote d’Ivoire too and there’s no doubt, it’s sure like him, like all, we need to learn and improve from our past and I think today is a very good opportunity to join us and try to show that ok, it was a mistake from his side, but always people deserve another opportunity, and we are very excited to receive him and try to give him the facility to play – to only be focused on football and try to enjoy it.

Tell us about signing Fernando Llorente?

Of course Llorente, first of all he’s a great professional.

He’s a world champion – he won the World Cup with Spain – and that is the mentality that can translate to us with the experience of winning big things.

He’s very professional. You know very well that he scored 15 goals for Swansea last season.

I think his characteristics can fit very well with the team.

He breaks with your policy though of signing older players?

I think it’s important, it’s not easy to have the facility to sign players like Llorente.

It was an amazing chance for us and I think he decided to sign for us, I think it’s fantastic because he will bring very good experience and then that culture, to compete – because competing is different to playing, and winning is different to trying to win.

He can translate that feeling that is so important for our squad.

Ricky Villa said Erik Lamela may never return, can you clarify that?

I didn't hear Ricky. We keep a very good relationship because every year he is here for the end of the season, spending a lot of time with Ossie.

I cannot say that was like this his comments, but Erik we are happy with his rehab.

We expect early October to join the team and to start the possibility to train the team and decided and assess every day when he will be available.

We are happy. I want to try to translate to our fans that Erik is in a very good mood and is happy.

He is doing all the things to try to be fit as soon as possible.

But I cannot confirm that Ricky's opinion was like this because I didn't hear him.

Back training in early October then?

That's what we expect, yes.
