Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool captain Jamie Redknapp - himself a fine passer of the ball in his day - has decided to name who he sees as the top 10 Premier League passers ever in his Daily Mail column, and the results are... interesting.

Now as we know to our cost on this site, such lists are difficult things to compile. You really can't please everyone.

But in leaving England legends Steven Gerrard and David Beckham out of his top 10, and including the former West Ham, Blackburn, Man City and Portsmouth midfielder Eyal Berkovic, he certainly raised a few eyebrows.

The only reason that Redknapp compiled the list at all was because he was waxing lyrical about Kevin De Bruyne, who he has chosen as the No. 1.

"In Kevin De Bruyne we have a midfielder whose passing is on another level," he wrote.

"His range is the best I have seen. The slide-rule pass to play in a team-mate, the cute reverse passes, the sweeping cross-field balls - there is nothing the Manchester City midfielder cannot do.

"He does not need to worry about whether his pass will be completed because he has such belief in his team-mates."

And all of that is fair enough, of course. De Bruyne has been brilliant this season.

But is he the best passer EVER in the Premier League? We're not so sure.

And because you've been sticking around for it, here's Redknapp's top 10:
