Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose was mysteriously omitted from the Spurs squad to face Arsenal on Saturday.

Despite no injury or illness being reported, Rose didn't travel with the squad to the Emirates Stadium for the north London derby, and was instead sent to train with the players who weren't involved.

Rose was a target for Manchester United in the summer, and after returning from injury he's only figured in one Premier League match for Spurs this season.

He did, however, play in both of England's friendly internationals against Germany and Brazil last week.

Rose angered Spurs fans in August by hinting that he wanted to leave the club.

"I am reaching my peak and have probably only got one big contract left in me,” he said.

"Time is running out and I do want to win trophies. I don’t want to play football for 15 years and not have one trophy or one medal.

“Sorry, that’s not what I am about. I wouldn’t be happy with that. I want to win something.

“I will say this too — I will play up north. I don’t know exactly when, but I will get back up north and play some football somewhere. I moved away from home (from Leeds to Spurs) at 16."

Speaking on Sky Sports, pundit Graeme Souness claimed that Rose's situation "won't end well, and it isn't good for his career at Spurs."
