Phil Neville has been given another roasting on social media after struggling to count to four on new Sky Sports show The Debate.

The former England international was discussing Everton midfielder Ross Barkley alongside Craig Bellamy on the weekly programme, but when it came to pointing out the issues Barkley has faced at Goodison Park in recent months his basic maths skills let him down.

Neville said: "He so desperately wanted to one, score goals. One, play well. One, be the star. Two, err, four, play for England," and naturally Twitter users were quick to react in typically brutal fashion.

One unimpressed viewer tweeted: "My youngest is still in nappies but can count better than Phil Neville."

Another was equally harsh, merely saying: "Someone grab Phil Neville an abacus."

The 40-year-old saw the funny side to one tweet though, after someone asked "Time are you on Phil? 1 or 1 or 1?" in response to him saying he would be on TV tonight alongside Alan Shearer and Steve Bower.

Neville simply replied: "Hahahahah."

He caused confusion earlier in the show when he suggested that Liverpool should let midfielder Philippe Coutinho go to Barcelona and replace him with Chelsea striker Diego Costa.

Let's hope the former Manchester United and Everton midfielder isn't starting the new season as he means to go on.
