Philippe Coutinho is set to hold talks with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp after flying back from international duty.

Coutinho is yet to play for Liverpool this season after months of uncertainty over his future, with the club citing a back injury.

He handed in a transfer request in a bid to force through a switch to Barcelona but Liverpool held firm and refused to sell their star man.

Coutinho was back in action during the international break and continued his return to full fitness on Tuesday night as Brazil drew 1-1 with Colombia.

The 25-year-old and the other Premier League players in the Brazil squad headed back to England after the encounter on a private jet.

Coutinho, who was a late substitute, was pictured alongside teammate Roberto Firmino, Chelsea winger Willian and Manchester City trio Fernandinho, Gabriel Jesus and Ederson.

Liverpool take on City on Saturday at the Etihad, with Coutinho back in contention.

He will report back for training this week and is expected to hold talks with boss Klopp, having reportedly previously told him he wouldn't play for the club again.

Reports in Spain this week also suggested Coutinho is considering refusing to play in the group stage matches of the Champions League.

He is said to fear his ineligibility in the competition would scupper his chances of securing a dream move to Barcelona in January.
