Former England captain Wayne Rooney posed for pictures in a bar hours before his arrest on suspicion of drink driving.
The 31-year-old striker was seen at Italian restaurant Piccolino in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, at about 4pm, after training with Everton earlier in the day.
Later he was seen at the Bubble Room bar nearby with pals, believed to be footballer Wes Brown and the brother of Phil Bardsley.
The trio sang and danced to local band Funky Treacle who were playing Oasis covers.
Rooney was seen singing along to Wonderwall and dancing on tables at the upmarket venue.
Rooney posed for photos with customers, including Shropshire cricketer Jack McIver, who posted an Instagram picture with Rooney captioned: "International Break #legend".
The photograph was uploaded at around 10pm but deleted this morning, a few hours after the Mirror broke the news of Rooney's arrest.
The group is then believed to have moved on to cocktail bar Symposium in nearby Wilmslow.
Rooney lives a few miles away in a £6million home in Prestbury, where he and wife Coleen have been for the last 12 years.
England's all-time record scorer was pulled over by cops at around 2am in a black Volkswagen Beetle in Wilmslow.
He was taken to a local police station where he was quizzed by officers.
At around 1.30pm Cheshire Police announced they had charged Rooney with drink-driving.

He has been released on bail and is due to appear at Stockport Magistrates' Court on September 18, Cheshire Police said.
He was pictured leaving Middlewich police station in the back of a car, wearing the same grey tracksuit as the night before.
Yesterday marked 13 years to the day since he left his boyhood club as a teenager for Manchester United before this summer's emotional return.
Rooney's spokesman told his staff to reply “no comment” to enquiries from journalists.
The Bubble Room and Everton Football Club have also declined to comment.
It was in Burnley defender Bardsley's house that Rooney was knocked out during a kitchen boxing bout in 2015.
Rooney, Coleen, Kai, Klay and Kit are planning to move to a new purpose-built £10million mansion in the heart of the Cheshire countryside.
Coleen recently announced that she is pregnant, expecting the couple's fourth child.
Rooney re-joined his boyhood club Everton in the summer, and scored in each of his opening two Premier League games following his return from Manchester United.
He announced his international retirement last week after 53 goals for his country in 119 appearances.
Rooney played in Everton's 2-0 defeat at Chelsea on Sunday and spoke after about looking forward to a rest during the international break.
England's most-capped outfield player announced his retirement the day before Gareth Southgate selected his squad for Friday night's clash with Malta, and Monday's meeting with Slovenia.
Speaking after the loss at Stamford Bridge, Rooney said: "I feel good. I tired towards the end there because of the heat and we were chasing the ball a lot which makes it difficult.
"But in general I feel good and I can have a good rest now and be ready for the next game.'"
Everton's next match is against Tottenham, at Goodison Park, on September 9.
