Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang says being snubbed by Tottenham five years ago has given him 'extra motivation' to pile more Wembley misery on Spurs tonight.

The Gabonese hitman will spearhead Dortmund's attack under the arch on matchday one of the Champions League as Mauricio Pochettino's side bid to reverse their fortunes at the national stadium.

Aubameyang has established himself as one of Europe's premier marksmen over the last few years, but Spurs opted not to pursue his signature in 2012.

“I was at Tottenham back then, had a tour of the stadium and the training ground," the 28-year-old told Bild.

“We held talks, but after that nobody contacted me again. That’s definitely extra motivation for me on Wednesday.”

Andre Villas-Boas was in charge at White Hart Lane at the time with Aubameyang bidding to secure a first big move after breaking on to the scene at St Etienne.

The striker has since gone on to net 126 goals in just 194 outings for Dortmund, including three against Spurs int he Europa League last year.

He added: "I want to score again."
