Jurgen Klopp's big red goal machine has broken down.

From scoring for fun as they netted three or more in eight of nine matches, Liverpool were held to a 0-0 draw by relegation-candidate visitors West Brom — three days after neighbours Everton battled to a 1-1 at Anfield.

The newly-christened Fab Four of Mohamed Salah, Philippe Coutinho, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino all started, but the previously prolific hosts couldn't find a way past the Baggies' England keeper Ben Foster — not legally, anyway.

While the result is enough to lift Liverpool back above Burnley into fifth, it has to be seen as two points dropped against a side who haven't won a match in any competition since August.

Dominic Solanke had a 'goal' disallowed for handball, Firmino and Mane missed good chances and Georginio Wijnaldum had an effort cleared off the line, but Hal Robson-Kanu and Salomon Rondon both hit the woodwork for West Brom.

Here, our David Maddock gives his man-by-man verdict on each side's performances.

LIVERPOOL

Karius 7 Beaten with clever shot onto the bar first half, fine save from Yacob later.

Alexander-Arnold 6 Mostly an attacking role as visitors sat deep, delivered crosses eagerly.

Lovren 7 Under the spotlight – perhaps unfairly – after derby penalty incident, but stayed resolute.

Klavan 6 Dependable and tidy on the ball. Maybe needs to impose himself more.

Robertson 6 Has big role to play as an outlet against parked buses, but stifled down left.

Wijnaldum 6 Didn’t get forward enough in first half, but movement improved after break.

Can 6 Has class in the quarterback role, but failed to use it to create momentum.

Coutinho 7 Sorely missed against Everton, he was behind most of Reds’ good work.

Mane 6 Disappointing in the derby, and continued in that vein. Seems to have lost his mojo.

Firmino 6 Makes this Liverpool side tick, but missed a big chance early on that set the tone

Salah 7 A doubt before game with hamstring worry, but still the most dangerous player. Man of the Match.

SUBSTITUTES

Oxlade-Chamberlain (for Wijnaldum, 76 minutes) 6; Solanke (Mane, 76) 6; Gomez(Alexander-Arnold 80)

WEST BROM

Foster 6 Big stage for him, but had surprisingly little chance to press claims.

Nyom 6 Not the most technical of players, but battled hard and showed strength.

Hegazi 7 Had hands full against Reds attack, yet always seemed calm and solid.

Evans 8 A huge leader for Baggies, directed traffic at back with typical composure.

Gibbs 6 Has experience in these daunting games, and never looked ruffled.

Livermore 6 Forced his way into England squad, and did forcing job in midfield here.

Yacob 7 Was there to break up the play, and stuck to his task with focused relish.

Krychowiak 7 Has a touch of quality on the ball and worked extremely hard off it.

Robson-Kanu 6 Used almost as wingback at times, and found time to chip onto the bar.

McClean 6 Fine energy as always. Worked his way around.

Rondon 6 Saw so little of ball he must have felt lonely, but kept fighting. Hit post.

SUBSTITUTES

Rodriguez (for Robson-Kanu, 71 minutes) 6; Brunt (Krychowiak, 79) 7.
