Zinedine Zidane has hit back at his critics after Real Madrid's defeat to Tottenham, insisting Los Blancos are not in crisis.

Spurs enjoyed one of the most famous nights in their recent history as they put Real to the sword at Wembley with two goals from Dele Alli and a Christian Eriksen strike helping them to a 3-1 win.

Real were shaky defensively all evening and, despite having more of the ball, failed to threaten the Spurs goal with as much regularity as the back-to-back European champions would have hoped.

It was their first group-stage defeat since 2012, and has heightened speculation over Zidane's future.

Real were beaten by newly-promoted Girona at the weekend, leaving them eight points off the pace in the Spanish title race.

"We are not in crisis," Zidane told reporters at Wembley.

"It does not feel like we've been beaten, perhaps we lacked the peace of mind we've always had in front of the goal.

"When you have two chances you should score two goals. Today we did not make chances and we did not score them.

"I'm sure we're going to turn it around, we lost today but this is a very long season. We congratulate our opponent and we reflect on the match. We are all very disappointed."
