Sadio Mane's red card against Manchester City has undoubtedly been the biggest talking point in football this week.

So fair play to Jamie Carragher for doing what everyone else has wanted to do… and ask Mane himself for his view on the sending off.

Quite why Jamie Carragher was pitchside ahead of Liverpool's Champions League clash against Sevilla is not entirely clear. The Sky Sports piundit may have been working… he may, as a genuine Anfield legend, just have permission to go wherever he likes within the stadium.

However, he didn't miss his opportunity when Mane came jogging over to say hello. Just check out this ace clip:

Fair play to Carra for asking the question.

And fair play to Mane for doing what any sane footballer would do in the situation… and flashing a cheeky grin and running away.

Carragher's query comes after The FA turned down Liverpool's appeal over the Mane decision.

The powers that be have decided to reject Liverpool's appeal against Sadio Mane's three-game suspension, for (accidentally) studding City goalkeeper Ederson in the face.

Liverpool had appealed the length of the ban rather than the red card itself - but Mane will miss this weekend's clash at home to Burnley as well as two games against Leicester - one in the Premier League and one in the EFL Cup.

The Anfield club argued that Mane’s actions were totally without malice, and the injury was the result of an accident, and that the ban should reflect his intent to solely play the ball.

But a statement from the Football Association said: "Sadio Mane's three-match suspension, which was effective immediately, remains in place after his claim of excessive punishment was rejected following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing."

The initial red card caused much debate.

While many experts said the dangerous nature of Mane's challenge meant it was justified, plenty of people - and Liverpool fans - insisted the fact it was accidental meant it was harsh.

That sense of injustice was only heightened when Newcastle's Matt Ritchie and West Ham's Winston Reid both committed similar 'high foot' fouls over the weekend… and both stayed on the pitch.

So, how do you think Liverpool reacted upon hearing that the Mane appeal had been rejected?

By accusing The FA of being Manchester United-supporting, xxxxx clowns, of course…

And that was just the tip of the iceberg…
