Yaya Toure claims rampant Manchester City are playing the best football in Europe.

City have won their last 20 games to seize control of the title race and power into the last 16 of the Champions League.

Toure is dreaming of a repeat of his 2009 Champions League success with Barcelona and says no team can top City right now.

“To be honest, I think we have very good players,” he said. “To be honest, I think we practise the best football in Europe at the minute.

“To repeat what I did in 2009 with the manager at a different club I think would be something special.

“Tomorrow (Wednesday) we have Shakhtar Donetsk. After that, we will see what happens.”

The multi-lingual Toure took questions in Russian - a legacy of his time with Metalurh Donetsk - and says City are playing so well because everyone is finally tuned into Pep Guardiola's style.

“In the first year, you could see we were trying to get the tactics of the manager,” said the midfield star.

“Now all the team get the tactics. That’s why are are playing with confidence.

“If you ask all my team-mates, they’re all enjoying it. The way we are playing, it’s like when you are young and you always wanted to play.

“Teams also respect us more because of the way we play and attack.”

Guardiola, who denied Spanish claims City tried to sign Lionel Messi before he signed his new Barcelona deal, played down the Blues’ record-breaking form.

The Catalan says it does not guarantee them glory in the Champions League Final back here in Kiev and rejected any comparison between them and his great Barcelona team.

“The principles are the same, but we are completely different,” he said. “They won 14 titles in four seasons, we haven't won once here.

“We’re doing well, but that doesn’t mean you will achieve the title. In this competition, one bad 45 minutes, you are out.”

Guardiola is set to hand England Under-17 World Cup winner Phil Foden his full debut in the freezing cold of eastern Ukraine and revealed David Silva is an injury doubt for Sunday’s Manchester derby.

“David had a little problem in the last few minutes against West Ham,” he said. “I don’t know if he will be able to play on Sunday.”

City are already through as group winners and Shakhtar boss Paulo Fonesca, whose squad spent last night in the same plush hotel as the Blues’ executives, has vowed to wear a Zorro mask if they progress.

The Shakhtar fans will wear Zorro masks and Foncesa said: “Zorro is my favourite character and I will wear an outfit like him if we qualify.”

Possible Shakhtar Donetsk XI: Pyatov; Butko, Rakitski, Ordets, Ismaili; Stepanenko, Fred; Marlos, Bernard, Taison; Fereira.

Possible Manchester City XI: Bravo; Danilo, Adarabioyo, Mangala, Delph; Gundogan, Toure, Foden; B Silva, Aguero, Diaz.
