Harry Kane received some advice from the legendary Diego Maradona ahead of Tottenham's clash with Liverpool - and he appeared to take it on board.

The England international, who has been in sensational goalscoring form this season, bagged his seventh and eighth against the Reds at Anfield on Sunday.

His first came in just four minutes as Tottenham got off to the best possible start against Jurgen Klopp's talented side.

He then set up Son Heung-min to double Spurs' advantage, before Mohamed Salah reduced the deficit to give the Reds some hope.

But it wasn't to be. Dele Alli restored Tottenham's two-goal lead before Kane put the game to bed with his second and Spurs' fourth.

The Argentine sung the striker's praises, but also instructed him on how he can get a bit more out of his game.

"Wow what a goalscorer," said Maradona. "Mauricio [Pochettino] has a real backbone in the team.

"Hugo stops everything at one end and Harry puts everything in at the other. Go on, get your heads in the game. Good luck, good luck.

"Don't always go near post with your shots. Go across goal sometimes. You know why? Goalkeepers watch you on TV all the time. So next time... across!"
