Liverpool youngster Rhian Brewster continued his scoring streak as England battled back against Spain in the Under 17 World Cup final.

The Spaniards had taken a 2-0 lead before Brewster halved his side's deficit minutes before half-time on Saturday.

His strike came three days after his treble against Brazil fired England into the final, and those goals came hot on the heels of his hat-trick against the USA.

The 17-year-old is yet to make his first-team debut for the Reds but is highly-rated at Melwood after impressing manager Jurgen Klopp during training.

And he lived up to that billing for England by continuing his scoring spree to earn them a final berth against Spain or Mali.

After being fast-tracked from the under-18s side into the under-23s this season, the Londoner - who joined Liverpool from Chelsea at the age of 15 - has been a regular goalscorer for England's under-17s side, and scored a hat-trick for the first team in a behind closed doors friendly against Accrington Stanley.

He also scored and made two asissts for under-23s against Leicester on Monday, before earning this call-up.

“I just needed to work hard and work my way into the under-18s team,” Brewster said recently.

“I did that, carried on playing well and played for the under-18s regularly. I got the opportunity to play with the under-23s. It looks like I’ve taken it and become a regular.

“I need to carry that on for the rest of the season and also next season as well, so I can start the season with the under-23s and hopefully play another full season with them.”

He ended up in the first team picture quicker than he's expected, with Klopp saying before the Palace clash: “Rhian Brewster did really well last week and he is a natural striker, if we need it.

“It is not sure that we will bring him [on] because Marko Grujic can play this position also, but we don’t have a lot of options so that’s our squad and everything is fine.”
