Everton supporters are fearing the worst after Ross Barkley was pictured at a tattoo removers in Liverpool - but they might just have a point.

The Toffees midfielder, who has been linked with a transfer away from the club all summer, snubbed a move to Chelsea on Deadline Day.

But it seems it's only a matter of time before Barkley leaves Merseyside behind him and switches to (more than likely) another Premier League outfit.

On Wednesday Barkley, who is currently out with a hamstring injury, was photographed on crutches at tattoo removers aestheticallyyou.

Toffees fans quickly took to Twitter to suggest the 23-year-old was having his Everton tattoo removed from his arm.

One fan wrote: "Ross Barkley removing his Everton tattoo hahaha the geez actually hates us," while another added: "Barkley treating us like his psycho ex and getting his tattoo of us removed."

But it seems the supporters have a point, although the process in fact started months ago, and Barkley isn't just having his Toffees ink removed - so it isn't personal.

A picture from 2014 shows the England international sporting a sleeve on his left arm containing everything from two red roses, a red star and the date he made his Everton debut in Roman numerals.

However, an image of Barkley's arm in 2017 shows the sleeve all but entirely missing, suggesting the star is having the whole thing removed, not just his ode to Everton.

What's more, the faint outline highlights a work in progress, and Barkley's visit to a tattoo removers on Wednesday was certainly not his first.
