Roy Keane has dismissed Jose Mourinho's claims that Chelsea are a great team as "nonsense".

Special One Mourinho hailed his side ahead of their clash with Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie.

Mourinho told ITV: "The hard work is to build a great team and we are a great team.

"We did the hard work, which is to build a great team, now is the unpredictability of football."

But ex-Manchester United skipper Keane was quick to downplay Mourinho's claims, saying the Blues haven't won enough trophies to be considered great.

"I think they have the potential to be a great team. He's clearly a great manager but they've got to back it up with some trophies.

"To say they're a great team at the moment is nonsense."

After the match Keane added: "That wasn't a great performance. Chelsea were very poor defensively."

Paul Scholes, who was part of the ITV panel alongside Keane at the Parc des Princes, echoed his former captain's sentiments.

"Over four or five years you have to win trophies every year. It's a bit early to say they're a great team," said Scholes.

Chelsea drew 1-1 in Paris after Branislav Ivanovic's opener was cancelled out by Edinson Cavani.
