Crocked Benjamin Mendy made a dart down the touchline to celebrate Manchester City's late winner - despite being out with a ruptured knee ligament.

Mendy, the world's most expensive full-back, is currently out of action and will miss the majority of the campaign after damaging his ACL earlier this season.

But he was on the sidelines when Raheem Sterling curled home a sensational 96th minute winner for City in their Premier League clash with Southampton on Wednesday night.

As the bench went crazy cheering the strike, Mendy sneaked off his seat and charged down the side of the pitch to join the City squad's celebrations.

Wearing his casual clobber, Mendy was seen hopping at serious speed to get involved in the celebratory huddle.

Mendy, who is a prolific social media poster, even tried to take a selfie with Sterling before the restart of play.

He tweeted: "Ruptured ACL but who cares after a 95th minute winner #LookAtMeRunning."

Following the game, his manager Pep Guardiola said: "Benjamin is crazy. He has a six month injury and is running!"

City maintained their eight point lead at the top of the table with the winner, extending their winning run in all competitions to 19 matches.

A Virgil van Dijk own goal gave City the lead after the break.

But Oriol Romeu's effort levelled the game with 15 minutes left to play, finding space in the City box.

Sterling's curled effort was almost the last kick of the game, sparking wild scenes at the Etihad.
