Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero has plans to return home to Argentina when his contract runs out in England.

The Argentine striker is currently contracted to the Citizens until 2019 with the option of an extra year, should Aguero and the club agree on an extension.

But at that point the forward, who recently became Manchester City's all-time top goalscorer, will be around 31 years old and potentially a few places lower in the pecking order than he once was.

As you would expect he is therefore looking ahead to the future, and has decided that a return to his former club, Independiente, would be his desired destination.

Aguero, who played for the Argentine club from 2003 to 2006, told reporters: "It came out that Milan and Real Madrid wanted me and - I don't know where I read it - but they said, 'They just spoiled Independiente's dream'".

"But the idea was always to go back to Independiente when my contract with City runs out in 2019.

"I have an option to extend one more year with City, where it's the priority but it's always an option."

Aguero isn't the only Argentine who has been weighing up his future in Europe of late after it was reported that Lionel Messi has been putting plans in place.

Speaking to Ole, the Barcelona legend said: "I still have to play in Newell's and that is my dream.

"But, as I was saying recently, I do not know what will happen a few years from now or how I will be to come back.

"I would love it and I always said it but I hope I can continue at this level to get back to Newell's because it's what I dreamed since I was little."
