David Bellion has recalled how Sir Alex Ferguson forced a Manchester United youngster to sell his Bentley.

Former United striker Bellion remembers a recently turned professional, but unnamed star, earning some infamous hair dryer treatment after angering the legendary boss.

“Sir Alex made him sell it immediately,” Bellion told the Sun.

“I drove to Carrington in an Austin Mini for nearly a year even though I had a Mercedes at home.

“Sir Alex didn’t like young players getting above themselves. He hated anyone showing their wealth before they had done anything in life or the game.”

Bellion, who also played for Sunderland and West Ham in England, last played for Red Star in the French lower league and now works in an art gallary.

Jose Mourinho doesn't seen to be so stringent when it comes to his aces' vehicles - as defender Phil Jones currently travels to the training ground in a Bentley.

The Frenchman is not the only player to reveal Ferguson's hatred of starlets driving nice cars.

Last month, Wayne Rooney told Talksport that anyone under 25 was banned from owning a sports car.

Rooney said: "When Alex Ferguson was there, if you were under 25 then you couldn't have a sports car.

"It is little things like that to have that discipline which the older players can help with."
