Theo Walcott has been urged to leave Arsenal "for his own good" by club legend Ian Wright.

Winger Walcott has only played for 48 minutes in the Premier League during three substitute appearances this season.

The England star's seen the majority of his action in cup competitions as he has been a regular in the Europa League and Carabao Cup campaigns.

His most recent game time came against Norwich in the League Cup - as the Gunners needed extra time to sneak past the Championship club.

And former Gunners record goal scorer Wright believes after almost 12 years at the Emirates, it is time for Walcott to move on.

"I think so, for his own sake," Wright told Sky Sports when questioned if Walcott should be searching for a transfer.

"I'm not sure where he can go now with Arsenal and he's only playing in the Carabao Cup and the Europa League.

"He'll want to finish on a high in respect of what he's doing, he's given Arsenal great service in the time he's been there and for me he should move on for himself."

Derby front man Darren Bent added: "The freshness of a move somewhere else might be perfect for him. He's been there for a long, long time now and I'm not quite sure how much more he can improve while he's there.

"But you never know, sometimes you can go somewhere else with new surroundings and, all of a sudden, you can kick on again. Maybe that's what he needs."
