Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino criticised Dele Alli for the dive which saw the England star booked during Spurs' emphatic 4-0 win over Huddersfield.

Alli was shown yellow late on after being found guilty of simulation as he attempted to win a penalty off Huddersfield keeper Jonas Lossl.

Alli, this week banned for one England game after being caught on camera gesturing with his middle finger, has been booked for simulation in recent seasons.

According to Pochettino, the 21-year-old "needs to learn" because such incidents are unhelpful both to him as an individual and to Spurs.

"I didn't see [the incident]," Pochettino said after the game. "It's so difficult for me from my position. But if it was like this he needs to learn. He must learn. This type of action doesn't help him, doesn't help the team and doesn't help the football.

"We are talking in the last few years about fair play, about being honest. I think he is improving a lot and learning but still he must learn."

"That is blatantly trying to cheat," said Alan Shearer, speaking on Match of the Day.

Harry Kane again scored twice for Spurs in their comprehensive victory.
