Tottenham defender Sergie Aurier has claimed Barcelona pulled the plug on a deal to sign him because of his bad reputatiuon.
The Catalans were strongly linked with the Ivorian right-back before they signed Nelson Semedo in the summer instead.
Aurier subsequently signed for Spurs instead, but the 24-year-old believes his reputation scared off European giants like Barcelona.
His time at Paris Saint-Germain was clouded by a series of off-the-field incidents, including blasting team-mates and former boss Laurent Blanc on social media.
Aurier was also handed a two-month suspended jail sentence after assaulting a police officer outside a Paris nightclub.
He told Canal Plus: "I think my reputation made four or five big European sides afraid.
"I was negotiating with Barcelona, very advanced negotiations. And Barcelona's people were not sure if I came here things would be different."
Aurier has played eight times for Spurs since his £23million move to north London.
And he insists he was desperate to leave the Parc des Princes.
He added: ""It was the right choice. After a while, I did not feel comfortable with the media.
"For me, it was never going to end. After a while, I felt like a prisoner, with a camera on my back.
"By staying in France, I would have never washed this image."
