If the international break was supposed to be a chance for Victor Lindelof to escape his Manchester United woes, then that opportunity never arrived in Amsterdam.

The Sweden defender - who is yet to appear for United in the Premier League this season following his £31m move from Benfica in the summer - has been restricted to Champions League and Carabao Cup appearances so far.

And just 16 minutes into Sweden's clash with the Netherlands we saw why.

Lindelof's rushed attempted clearance ended up cannoning into his own raised arm to concede a penalty, which was duly netted by Arjen Robben.

It was a panicked start to what could have been a easy night for the Swedes, and although the Dutch were never likely to score the seven goals they needed on the night to progress - ending up with two - this was a needless, nervy start from a man under pressure.

And on Twitter, the jokes were numerous.

United fans will hope he doesn't start Saturday's trip to Liverpool!
