Marco Silva has assured Watford he is going nowhere yet – although bookies rate him third favourite for the Everton job.

Rising star Silva has turned the Hornets into this season's surprise package in the Premier League after predecessor Walter Mazzarri's last six games in charge were so moribund they were nearer a suspect package.

Silva arrived at Vicarage Road on a two-year contract in July as Watford's ninth head coach in five years.

The team's startling improvement, and the exciting discovery of £11m Brazilian winger Richarlison, has lifted the Hornets into the top six – and Silva's name has been linked with a rash of Premier League jobs after just nine games.

He is as short as 4-1 to succeed Ronald Koeman at Goodison Park, but Silva insisted: “I'm happy with the way we play, I'm happy that we compete in every match in our style, so why change?

“I'm still here, since the first day I have been 100 per cent focused in my job, and my focus remains in the club and our next match.

“What I expect, and what I want, is to honour my obligation to work hard, to prepare for the Stoke game in the right way and not to lose our focus for a really hard match.”
